Attached is this year’s Guam Society of America Scholarship Program Application Packet for those students eligible to apply. If you plan to apply, please read through the packet and ensure that instructions are followed.

Note that the closing date for submission for the 2018 Scholarship is 11:59pm (Eastern Standard Time), Monday, May 28, 2018. There are no exceptions/extensions to this date. Read the packet completely and review the checklist provided to ensure you have all the necessary requirements submitted for the application packet. Submission will only be accepted via email. The email timestamp will show when the application was received. If you have questions, please submit them early.

Please note that one of the key factor to eligibility, is applicants must become members of the Society. First step is submitting your membership and we highly recommend that students start working their references and letters of recommendation now. The Guam Society will be happy to provide feedback on specific areas and will provide additional feedback on submitted packets that are received 30 days before the deadline; this will allow applicants to make any corrections and resubmit updated documents or packet information. Parents are encouraged to help their children with the process, however, the scholarship will be awarded to the student so we are looking to hear from them. The program is designed not only to award scholarships but to begin the process of transition to college life and self-responsibility.

This year, there is $7,000 available for scholarship awards. Please take advantage of this opportunity and share the information with current college students and graduating high school students. Note that the scholarships are available for those pursuing their undergraduate degrees only.

Remember that essays need to be submitted in MS Word Format and applicant’s photos must be in .JPG/.JPEG or .BMP formats.

The 2018 Guam Society Scholarship recipients will be announced and scholarships presented at the 2018 Guam Liberation Day Picnic tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 14, 2018, location to be determined.
